Coubertin Quote for Nov, 07
Fortune loves boldness.

With all due apologies, we have taken the liberty of compressing an idea of Baron Pierre de Coubertin’s into its essence.  In 1919, when Belgium stepped forward to organize the Seventh Olympiad in less than a year and a half, the Baron asked fortune to smile on their magnificent gesture.  He made these remarks during a speech celebrating the 25thanniversary of the launch of the modern Olympic Movement. In essence, this quote is consistent with the Baron’s overall emphasis that fortune favors those who dare to forge ahead.

“May Fortune, which loves boldness, smile on the magnificent gesture just made by Belgium in seeking the privilege of hosting the Seventh Olympiad of the modern era next year.”
